Afternoon all,
I have recently moved house and live quite close to a vineyard. I have had a chat with the owners and, if there is any interest, they would allow us to have a get together there for casting etc (they have a very large flat field which would be perfect), they would also be happy for me to bring along my gas BBQ to cook food.
As a side 'attraction' to this they also do vineyard tours followed by wine tasting, priced dependant on numbers, which they would also happily fit into any meet up we may have (they produce award winning British wines).
There is also the option of having some fly tying 'stuff' at my house, which is a stones throw from the vineyard.
So, does this sound like something people would be interested in? If so please let me know so that I could look into organising something.
cheers

Sounds good ( especially the wine part) so you can count me in.

Hello
Anything vaguely piscatorial with a glass of wine (or two) involved would be of interest to me. I will look out for further developments!

Hey Jim If available I'd be up for it, but can't make definite plans my better half has to go in for op and then likely to be off her feet for 6-8 weeks. So depends when that happens could be anytime between now and the end of July for the op

no worries Boisker, the date will depend on how many express an interest and then finding a date that will suit the many. But, the vineyard owners are very much onside so this doesn't need to be a one off.
Hopefully we'll get some more interest to make it a worthwhile get together

Well, there's 4 so far, not really enough to make it viable at the moment. Hopefully more people can join us for what could be a lovely afternoon.

Can you say which vineyard it is? No that it would affect whether I'd go but there are a few nearby so I'm curious!

Depending on shifts and family commitments I would be up for it.

So, 5 people interested which isn't bad. They have also said that we can forego the vineyard tour and they can put on some food etc, or a bit of both. Perhaps something we could do later in the season?

Hi Jim,
Depending on when you are thinking of doing it, I'm interested.

Regarding dates, i'm happy to organise something to suit everyone else (it's no bother for me as the vineyard is my next door neighbour!).
Is everyone OK in September at weekends?

As we are now into July are there any dates in August (i'm thinking Saturday or Sunday afternoons?) that people are NOT available and, could I have a recheck confirmation of those who wish to attend please. I have spoken to the vineyard and they are happy to include the tour, or leave it out, they can also provide a light lunch if required (not sure of cost for this). So, could you also let me know which option you'd like from: casting with vineyard tour and tasting (includes a light lunch) casting without the tour but with a light lunch Once I know numbers and the option required i'll be able to get a definitive price. The vineyard is an award winning producer and I can vouch that their wine is very nice indeed, especially the white, chilled, drank in the garden on a lazy sunny afternoon with a plate of fruit and cheese

Possibly Pusser... if I'm free I'll come but Jen has to have an op sometime over the next month or so.... or whenever they get around to setting an appointment. So will all depend on that, prob best to not count me as a certainty

Last call for this as the wine tour season will be finishing in Sept due to the vineyard harvesting the grapes.
Anyone interested (we would need at least 10 to make it worth while)?

Hello Pusser I can be fairly flexible with this. It would be a good gathering, even with a few. I will look out for further postings.
Regards BG
