A Devon Springer lying on the snow?
Two things together that don't come along very often here!

Well, the Umberleigh gauge has dropped below 1m for the first time in a while and perhaps there might be a tiny window of fishing coming. My only issue now is getting there! Otter still too high to fish for Browns.... Would be perfect Thursday if it wasn’t for the 7- 8” of snow that’s about to melt....

Mo, could have done with some this morning.
Ben, yup, think I'm going to have to work hard for a March salmon this year.
Boisker, river is still dropping when I checked the 4pm update but still not enough. Think the window was smaller that I think with the pace the snow is melting!

0.9 on the gauge so we thought we'd give it a quick go. Next few days could be fun if it stays dry that is!

Surprisingly the snow melt doesn’t seem to have risen the rivers too much, unless they’ve picked up this afternoon... but from a quick drive by the colour isn’t great... hoping they may not be too bad Thursday... But that’s for trout, is there more leeway with coloured water for salmon?

Water waste a nice height yesterday. Had a day fishing with my buddy Nick and it was one of those great days on the water. I thought it was lunchtime but looked at my watch and it was 3pm, time flew. Although no fish we were spurred on by news of one off of the Torridge.

I was at the Rising Sun on sunday Pete. Lovely day, no fish but just looked right! I was at the London Fly Fishing Show at the weekend and got in late morning on Sunday, had a cup of tea and hit the river just a short way upstream of you. Looked even better Monday. Plenty of rain here this morn and just debating whether to give it a go this morning!

Ha, loaded up, got into waders, drove over the stream in my village and turned around! Walked the Fox water instead. I've a busy weekend of work coming up starting tomorrow and fear the worst!

I managed to swing some flies for a few hours with Emma. Water still had a push to it but clarity was good. It felt like we were in the game too but not this time.

Did you see any fish, Pete? Sadly I didn't Ben. On the places I fish on the Taw I don't tend to see fishing showing that often bar a couple of exceptions. There is one pool that when they are running they will show as they come into it. Few things more exciting when you're on the river!

Very true! You know there is at least one fish in the pool!

The water's clearing ,visiblilty from the photo doesn't look too bad, the levels are looking good. I'm tempted.
