Went for my normal Monday evening walk out to the Creedy whilst my youngest was at the leisure centre. The river still looks muddy ( does it ever clear?) but I did see plenty of black gnats and the odd yellow may dun and then when I got home a Danica was dipping down on to the car bonnet outside my house in Yeoford. Perhaps things are looking up. Mayfly kept flying off

That’s one dirty river halfstoned... if it isn’t running clear now then I doubt it ever does, we’ve hardly had rain in weeks. Even the Otter has been running clear for ages and that’s surrounded by beef or maize for nearly it’s whole length

looks like you had cattle in the river above you, the Creedy/Yeo always have a slight colour due to sediment, this has been studied by Ex Uni and is natural, having said this we bare suffering more and more siltation from run off from the fields due to bad farming practice.

Thanks Mojo, I really should have guessed about the cattle, happens all the time on "my" Yeoford stretch. Happily fishing away one minute and then the water clouds up and you either move up above the crossing or go home. Can be a bit annoying if the fish are rising.

The Otter is similar Mojo... if you look into deeper water it always looks cloudy, but when you get into shallower water of 18”or so it’s actually clear
