Hi Luap, I have seen that before and brought it to the attention of the UTFA committee. Very little can be done about it at the moment. I caught my first of the season, the smallest Sea Trout i have ever caught this time of year, fish of about a 1lb that went straight back. Cheers Richard

It was good to be out on the Teign again last night. I had an hour or two at Drogo. The occasional fish in evidence throught the pool, and lost a good feeling fish after a brief tussle close to the far side of the weir.

I managed to get amongst them last week with a good fish of 4lbs at Upperton. Nothing doing when I visited Drogo this week however. I can't really complain as my fishing effort has been very light this season with just the odd session every fortnight or so, 2 hours each time max. For me that works out a about 10 gallons of diesel per fish. ;D

I went out last night to Upperton, hooked into a heavy fish at 10.00pm, first run saw my fly line go out through the rings, then it came past me and did the same downstream, anyway after one of the best fights i can remember it came to the net at 10.15pm, i was expecting to have to release it, but it only had some colouring on the gills, so result was a fish of 5lb 8oz. Hopefully we will have some rain to freshen things up a bit. Cheers Richard

Excellent fish Richard. Plenty of fish in evidence last night at Upperton, but nothing doing. For me at least.

There have been reasonable numbers of salmon in the lower Teign recently. Last night’s rain (28mm) will spread them out a bit no doubt. There is a message for you Devonflyfisher. Luap

I had a short session with the spinning rod after work yesterday. No salmon takers.

Keep at them Rob, if they are up the Exe they must be up the Teign.

Hi Rob, The same day you were down on the Teign i heard of 2 10lb+ salmon being taken, not sure what method though. I went sea trout fishing last night, caught a fairly fresh fish of 2 1/2lb but there were some salmon showing in Upperton. Cheers Richard

Good news that Richard, another rise to come so hopefully a few more fish. Keep them there until I get back from the Orchy in a week or so!

No luck so far for me, but fish are about and they are being caught. What on though?? Rather deprssingly I see my best chance as a decent spate and some fresh fish. Rain forecast for sunday- lets hope it arrives.

Sea trout fishing has been patchy to say the least, and thats frustrating because they are in the river in good numbers. Had one good night when i caught 2 and lost 1, loads of takes but just not connecting right. Cheers Richard

My fishing is so poor it's getting beyond a joke. Every night the river is seemingly well stocked with ST, but I'm catching precious few. Tonight was not really a good night. Highish water, cold and clear. Few fish showing. You guessed, I blanked. ;D

Hi Rob, Andy 'marvelous' lost a fish of about 7lb at the net, his dog fell in, and then tried to 'retrieve' the fish, result was one lost fish of a lifetime. I had 3 last Thursday, but only in the 1-2lb range. Cheers Richard

I lost a good fish at Drogo pool on Friday, it was one of those that just bored down all the time and only broke the surface once in the 5 minutes i had it on, then it made a really powerful run and the hook pulled out. But the river is in a poor state, nothing a really good spate couldn't sort out though. Cheers Richard

Sorry to hear that Richard. Always frustrating. I'm just back from Brittany where for 2 weeks we had several days of monsoon-like rain. I was hoping a bit would have fallen here, but it looks pretty low.
