Well, the Taw opens tomorrow and we'll be hitting a few pools.
Here's to a successful season for everyone where ever you fish and I hope we'll be reading this thread throughout the year and hearing about how you have all been getting on.
Good luck!

Congratulations Pete, a beautiful fish. River Taw? Your dog looks like he’s having a quiet word with the salmon!

Thanks fellas.
Johnesmithson, yes, he does! Over the last couple of years he seems to "get" fishing and knows that when a fish is on it is exciting for everyone. It is fun watching him when you get to the end of a pool and wind in as he springs to life in case you might be playing a fish.
We always let him have a sniff of a fish when we put it back either trout or otherwise and when he's done that he gets back out and waits for the next one.
It doesn't feel like a proper day on the water without him now.

Around 10 or 11lb. A strong fish!
It took the dropper, a small cascade.

Few sea trout about on the dart now, had a few pulls and seen one caught on the other bank. Good to see some fish jumping finally. Hopefully these building tides bring more in.

Lough Currane (Waterville - Ring of Kerry). Top fish was 14lb and the other 9lb. Can recommend Ghillie Neil O'Shea if anyone is going to fish this Lough. Was initially going to target Sea Trout but it was a little early. (July best month). I was really lucky as conditions were not favourable Blue sky and a real gusty South Easterly blowing hard all day - Only 3 Salmon came out of the Lough the whole week.
Both fish were returned.

Well done that man: fly or trolling? It's a spectacular spot, but rather daunting as you contemplate drifts of a mile or more. I wanted to ask for a rest half way across when we were fishing with Tom O'Shea (also an excellent ghillie like his brother). I'm glad you returned your fish - and that's coming from someone who always used to knock them on the head!

Trolling most of the day due to the strong wind. Neil and I both tried fly fishing a team of two on a couple of occasions but as soon as we drifted away from the shelter of high ground, casting was impossible.
