I'm a big fan of podcasts, enjoy listening to them and always wanted to try and do one myself. I've eventually got round to it and sat down with my friend Nick Hart to talk about making a career in fishing. I hope you might find it interesting! If you fancy listening just click HERE

Hi Kev,
Many thanks for listening and taking the time to write. It is a little creaky as I am still finding my way but Nick was excellent to talk to and rose the challenge perfectly. I wanted something to offer readers in-between issues of the magazine. I have more lined up that I am sure you'll enjoy!

Great work Pete... I really enjoy fishing podcasts, I often listen to one before I fall asleep.... I’ve been working my way through a whole load of old ones from the likes of orvis, wet fly swing fly, the fly fish8ng consultant and anchored. I’ll keep an eye out for your next one. Cheers

Thanks Boisker, I'm a fan too and thought I'd poke my head above the parapet and give it a go.
I think Anchored is my favourite but I love Tom's Orvis podcast too. I like the way he answers the questions at times where he tells them to "go figure it out" It seems these days there isn't enough of this and people ask rather than try stuff.
I just have lined up a really cool interview this morning but think you'll enjoy the next one which will be about casting amongst other things.

I'm afraid, the part in bold/red there is symptomatic of the digital age. It seems more and more people are too lazy to find things out for themselves when it's all too easy just to ask on social media. I see it, numerous times, in Facebook groups where people ask things like, what time trains are, what is the local taxi number, etc etc. for me, it's quicker to use a search engine than to wait for an answer on SM. And, this also seems to percolate into 'real' life - people really do need to start to get out there and try things out.

Yup, I'd agree Pusser.
Happens in fishing too. I like to go out and try stuff, it's the best way to learn.

I’ll look forward to that Pete... surprisingly for a sport that fundamentally relies on casting a fly line, it’s not a particularly common subject discussed in podcasts I listened to a podcast with Simon gawesworth where he talked about his passion for casting, it really links through his whole career... not a technical exploration, but more about how much he still enjoys just casting a line and practicing... it’s enjoyable just listening to passionate people and what makes them tick...

I can vouch for Simon's passion. I get to see him once or so a year and he is super keen on casting as welll as fishing and is probably one of the nicest guys in fishing too.

I'm enjoying the podcasts Pete, one thing though, the volume on the Brett O'Connor one was a bit low (for him), sounded like he was way over the other side of your kitchen (is your kitchen massive ). But, great content, very entertaining and a really good listen so far.

Thanks fellas, pleased you are enjoying them.
Pusser, you are right. When I did a test run with Brett all sounded fine but there did appear to be an issue with sound that I've learnt from.
That having been said it is fun to image that I spoke to him on a Bond villain like table that is super long and we sat at each end of it!

I'm not sure if anyone has seen this one but I released this one before I went off to chase some steelhead, got back and realised I'd not mentioned it. I sat down with Gerald Spiers who fishes the Tamar and talked swinging flies down and across vs an upstream presentation. Listen by clicking here

Thanks for putting this up Pete, I’m very much enjoying these. Always liked old Spiers with his wrt videos. Makes sense even for a Cornishman 😄

Ha, I'll pass on Terry, we should be fishing together soon.
I have some others planned that will include hints and tips that listeners might find useful.
I'll also be doing some more with both Paul Procter and Nick Hart that will include plenty of fishing info.
