I've heard there may have been a pollution event on the River Coly, but can't find any details yet.

I thought something was up last night walking the terrier in Colyton. Water looked very dirty, funny smell as well.Took some photos and was trying to figure out what to do next . I thought it could have been the rain we have had, but it just didn't seem right. I did have Mike Hollands (EA) Email address but I don't know if he still works in this area. I'll post the photos in a mo.

If in doubt, contact the EA. Slurry, apparently. Fish killed down to Seaton. Don't know where it got in.

www.midweekherald.co.uk/news/many-fish-die-after-colyton-river-polluted-1-6636198A Nutrient Management Plan is being drawn up for the Axe catchment. Similar work has taken place in Hants I believe due to nutrient effects on the Solent. Westcountry Rivers Trust are included as a stakeholder in this work thankfully. Some solutions might involve taking land out of production to reduce nutrient loading. Also need to include more safety in design of tanks and stores.
