Cormorant on the West Dart in the high water at the end of August. It kept hopping to the next pool ahead of me for a cruise around as I made my way along which can't have helped my chances. Charles Bingham always said that they were a protected species if further than 35 yards away (12 bore range). However, (once it had flown off) v pleased to report a slightly coloured cock salmon (11-12 lb) on fly from a well-known pool just above Dartmeet. Swam off strongly. Also a 2 lb seatrout later that afternoon on a size 6 salmon fly from a lower Dart beat. Great day.
Must get in a Dartmoor trout day before the season's end. Regards to all.

Well done with that salmon! Looking forward to hearing if you do manage an end of season trout trip.
