Took a young lady beginner for her first day's river fishing on the Wolf today... simply because it was the only river vaguely fishable at the moment! Got her fishing goldhead pheasant tails in the pockets and she managed four or five nice little browns to about 9in. Also had a young kingfisher sit and watch us fish for five minutes or so, sat about two rod-lengths from us. Lovely stuff.
Others fishing the Wolf today did ok using wet Coachman fished upstream in the less fierce flows. It's all about making the best of it in these conditions!!

Hi mate, glad you got a few. Wolf is a great bet when its nasty isn't it? We were on our lake and I poked my head over to have a look at the Wolf and was pleasantly surprised. I'm supposed to be on the Tamar on Thurs...I've a feeling I'll be at Colliford instead

Holding a nice bit of water, the Wolf is fishing very well. Took a chap fishing yesterday morning and, although they were sporadic, at times every fish in the pools were up and grabbing sedges. Hooking these Wolf fish always requires lightning reactions, but he managed a fair few six-inchers, losing two or three decent fish of over 10in. It's nice to see the river with a bit of flow at this time of year and so the fishing isn't just restricted to the evenings. With all this water, there's even a likelihood of a peal up there!
Cheers
