Thanks Pete & evening all,
As for me, I moved to Devon in 2011 from London - mainly for the fishing. I love rivers and, now that I have the option, tend to fish almost exclusively moving water. I would describe myself as enthusiastic more than accomplished, but getting better now that I'm out most weekends.
I like fishing alone and with friends equally, so if you're ever in need of a fishing partner (outside office hours at the moment sadly) then I'm usually game.

Hi Jimmy, I'm also a Londoner who loves fishing the rivers of Devon although sadly I still live in the Smoke. Everytime I drive home from a trip I wish I could move to the area. Only another 18 years to I retire ! Hopefully see you on the riverbank one day.

Thanks for the welcome, Pete.
I'm based in Farnham, Surrey, so mainly fish the rivers in the South, but try to escape down to the West Country a few times every season.
I particularly love the Exmoor streams but have fished several of the other rivers featured on this forum.
It's been a strange start to the season so far but I found some fish willing to rise the weekend before last on the Upper Culm and the Exe above Dulverton.
My original inspiration to fish in the West Country lies in the writings of Mike Weaver whose chapters in the 'Haig Guide to Trout Fishing in Britain' and 'West Country Fly Fishing' I devoured in the 1980s as a boy.

Just joined the board. Caught my first fish when aged about 7yrs young on the Cowsic (West Dart trib.) and promptly broke the tip off my father's rod when winding it in (the line somehow looped around the tip !!). Only about 6'' long but I was chuffed to bits. Fished the Blackabrook and Tavy a lot in my teens but haven't really fished Dartmoor for about 20 years. Must put those carp rods away and give it another go again soon !! Interesting forum and good to keep up to date with catches etc.

Krokodil,
You are most welcome and I look forward to hearing about how you get on not just here but also anywhere else too.
I know what you mean about Mike Weavers writing. The Pursuit of Wild Trout is one of my favourite books of all time.
Grey Duster,
Was up the Cowsic way last week. Was a bit bleak but they were still rising!
Great to have you here and look forward to your posts.

HI, I'm Jon and live in the South Hams and have a drink problem, only joking! I've been fishing since the age of 6 and now 33, started fly fishing 6 year ago and loving it, I fish the west/east dart, and this year got my association ticket for the Devon Avon, which is the river I grow up on. I fish for salmon, brown trout and this year started going out at night for sea trout, with no joy yet, but not giving up. Hoping for a warm night tomorrow so I can try again.

Hi Jon,
A very warm welcome!
You'll find the forum a friendly place and hopefully meet some members on the river bank.
Please keep us all informed of how your fishing is going and good luck with the quest for a sea trout.

Hi, my name is Roy. This is my fifth season with Crediton FFC which I joined when I retired, to get back into small stream flyfishing that I had managed to find time for only occasionally since my youth. Its a great club and their no-stocking policy is dead right, it makes all the difference to know that the trout you catch (however small !) are totally wild. Living in Brixham, I also enjoy occasional attempts to catch bass on a fly. I have been following the forum for a year or so as a guest, so thought it was time I joined properly !

I've not fished for bass down your side, it is on my list!

Hi everyone. My name is Paul Jesney and Iv'e been fly fishing for 20 years now and its been the one hobby I have always kept up. I like to fish for anything on the fly like pike, salmon, sea trout, brown trout and grayling. I mostly fish the rivers teign, dart and bovey as they are the closest to where I live and also because my fishing friends go there too. At the start of 2013 I became the competition secretary for the Federation of peninsula fly fishers who run competitions in the southwest to gain entry to national finals which you can fish to qualify for a place on the England fly fishing teams. Im not really here to promote that too much but more to talk to people around the south west and keep in touch with whats going on,maybe get to know a few more people. I hope your all having as many memorable days fishing as I am this year and hope to chat soon.
