Thanks Pete, looking forward to the Forum and thanks for letting me know about it.
I'm based in Mid-Devon not far from Crediton and although I have been fly fishing for many years it was mainly stocked lakes / reservoirs prior to moving to Devon. I now have the 'river bug' and would rather fish out small rivers / streams in preference to any large waters. I am really enjoying my river fishing as every trip out is a learning experience for me. I am always keen to meet up with someone more experienced than me in order to enhance my knowledge and river-craft. I mainly fish the Taw with visits to other rivers when I can. I caught my first Grayling (on the fly) in November when I had a day up on the R.Test - magic.
All for now,
Paul.

Hi all, lived in Devon for quite a few years now and fished most of my life, only really fly fish now tho. Moved to Plymouth last year and still working out what transport gets me to some fishing so mostly fish the Plym at the moment, tight lines, Dave.

Hi all
Lived in Devon all my life, most of that time has been spent in Okehampton, but now living in Black Torrington. Only started fishing just over a month ago, manage to sneak away a few times a week at the moment, mostly on the Okemont and Meldon. Going to save the Torridge for when I stop losing flies!

Hi Okeboy..... Depending where you went on the Torridge you might find it slightly more open and wider, so less likely to lose flies.

I can see sheepwash from my house, so we're slightly upstream from the Half Moon. The closest part to me is the Gortleigh beat which is through the passport scheme. I'm a cheapskate and a bad fisherman, can't justify paying to not catch anything when I can do it for free on the Okement!

Hello Okeboy, which of the Okements are you fishing East or West? I have fished them both for the last four years and found the East above Simmons park to be the easiest ( although above the tree line past meldon res the casting is nice and open) . Having said that this year has been difficult because of the lack of water but last year was excellent! Great place to practice casting, hooking, playing fish etc.. Tight lines.

I've not actually fished the east yet, been out the old park by the castle, mostly the stretch opposite the old swimming pool. Had a quick walk along the banks out Abbeyfords at the weekend, after getting pretty soaked I've decided waders are next on the list. I'm not too bad around trees now, got my roll cast pretty much sussed. If you ever want anyone to make you look a pro I normally sneak out a couple evenings each week.

Welcome to our newest member JFB, good to have you here.
It looks like our small band is growing something that is great news and I have heard that some members are meeting up and fishing together.
It something that was one of the main drivers of setting this forum up so that like minded people could share a fishing tale, get to know each other and wet a line together. Great news!
