Sorry , seem to have omitted any introduction!!! Started fly fishing on the Teign back in the 80's when my farther was comp secretary for the UTFA. We lived next door to Roddy Rae and he was kind enough to take me fishing and help me with fly tying etc.. In return I would go beating on his Pheasant shoots or work his clay shooting days. I called his Half stone sporting agency Half stoned ( funny when your 13!!) hence the forum name. After the usual break for uni then marriage / kids I returned to river fly fishing about 5 years ago , so trying to get back up to speed ( sadly Roddy had left us back in 2005 ). Lots of new techniques to learn so this forum is a great resource to just throw questions at for informed answers from a really helpful and knowledgeable bunch of fellow addicts .All the best. Chris.

Welcome to our newest member wilkinsc, if it is who I think it is you a most welcome and as a new, younger member to the forum please feel free to ask any questions so that we can help you with your fly fishing! Pete Thank you very much for the welcome Pete. It was a pleasure to catch my first brown trout with you on the weekend. To introduce myself to others on the forum, I am new to fly fishing. I done a little bit of sea fishing on the Devon coastline with my father previously. After moving more inland and after my first experiance on the taw this weekend I am looking forward to learning to fish rivers here in Devon, particularly those near to where I live just outside Okehampton.

As I have already started to tap folks up for info, I thought I should really introduce myself!
My name is Jon, I live up in Bristol (is that still considered the west country?!). I've been fly fishing for 20 years mostly locally to Bristol, firstly on the River Chew and then for the last 10 years on The Little River Avon for wild browns and grayling. I love to fish traditional flies from a boat and make a bi-annual visit to Lough Currane in Co. Kerry after sea trout. I discovered the browns in Roadford a couple of years ago and try and get down there a couple of times a year. I also love digging out little stretches of urban free fishing that throw up some surprisingly big trout.
I'm currently saving up for a months sabbatical bumming around Scotland next year running and fishing.
The eldest of my two snappers is just about to leave for Uni so I'm anticipating a little bit more time for trout soon...

Hi Sorry been a bit slow to introduce myself. My name is Jon as well, I grew up in Bristol but now live in Exeter. Fished since age twelve, coarse, sea and in the last six or seven years mostly fly. In recent years I have mainly fished reservoirs especially Fernworthy, Roadford and Burrator. Some river fishing on Dartmoor. I've joined the Crediton club this year and am looking forward to concentrating on rivers this season. I'm also a very keen, though not particularly good, fly dresser and member of the guild. Looking forward to participating in the forum.
