My client american angler Dan Kruse from Minneapolis had a productive session above and below Fingle Bridge, when he caught 16 trout, 5 stocked fish between 12'' and 14'' and a superb wild brown trout of 13'' all taken on the dry fly using a size 18 Adams. And he only lost 2 flies! The wild brownie was the highlight of the day though, it was all on its lonesome in a little fast run but gave away its position taking some olives, first cast and he was on. Cheers Richard

Sounds like a great day fishing! Can I ask a totally newbie question? How do you tell the difference between a stocked and a wild fish? Is it just down to colouring?

Yep, the trout that have been stocked (only 300 below Drogo pool) look very pale in colour, similar to a sea trout but not silver. In the past the adipose fin was clipped. The 13'' fish was so obviously a wild fish, we had caught so many other stockies to make a good comparison! I must take my camera with me. Cheers Richard

They where rising freely around Clifford Bridge yesterday too. I lost more than two flies mind you.
