I've been rather quiet (and a little smug) as the mighty Hammers of West Ham have been punching well above their weight and have played some really nice football. It has been nice not watch each game with a sense of dread as they have been on the TV a lot recently.
That having been said Sunday was a little uncomfortable but for me what is more worrying is having to listen to Robbie Savage commentate. I can't understand how he has got the gig and he is now on BBC and BT too. I would have thought that the TV execs would have looked a little deeper than someone who has clearly been given the "be controversial" role but doesn't have a lot to back his comments up with.
Would love to know if there are any Robbie Savage fans out there?

I wasn't a fan when he was a player, so not really interested in what he's got to say. Although saying that I've drifted away from football over the last 10 years, rarely pay it any serious attention these days, just keep in touch with the leagues half heartedly.
I am slightly obsessive about rugby though, grew up watching league, now pretty much just Union ( and league when I get a chance)- so in the middle of the six nations... Keeps me happy whilst the trout season approaches.
Saying that I have got a soft spot for West Ham at the moment, I like Sam... I'm from Bolton (a good few years ago) and the only time I ever saw them with a decent team was when Sam was their coach... I love his ability to wind up the big boys...
With the way he hooked and played LVG the other week I reckon he must be a killer fisherman

It's is sort of what I mean about Savage. I saw him play a few times and he just ran around like a lunatic and did very else which is what his commentary is like really.
I see where you are coming from with football as I hear it a bit. I love the game, just don't like who plays it, well not many of them.
Don't think there is much point in comparisons with rugby as the big difference is money, pure and simple. I guess this is why we see the play acting etc as a penalty or even a free kick can be the difference between 3 points and no points and in a lot of cases what can keep you in the Premier League and out of it too.
I watched how Tony Pulis had West Brom set up on Sunday and it is built on not conceding a goal and taking your chances from there. When you are playing this way in the inevitable that you'll take any chance you can, be it in the rules or not, to try and score a goal.
It has taken some time but I really respect Sam Alladyce as he was given a clear brief when he joined WHU. Get out of the Championship at his first attempt and do what ever you can to ensure you stay in the Premiership. He has done this, so far, and he pulled off some great transfers/loans that have meant the team has gone back to the attractive football they used to be famous for. He looks like a different man.
I can remember times he was booed off by fans after winning but shows perfectly football isn't a sport any more it is a business. Shame really.
