Have a look at the TWP site Plym page www.twpfishing.net/Pages/Plym1.htmlThe bit you are interested in states "Cad The right bank from Sheepstor Parish Boundary to the Blackabrook"The Blackabrook comes in about 1.5km above Cadover Bridge. I think the Sheepstor Parish Boundary is at SX 6077 6813, a very long way up the stream not far short of Plym head. Note Cad is the name sometimes used for the Plym above the Meavy junction. No idea who has the left bank but... high up on the moor I doubt anyone would mind if you found a spot where it was easier to cast from the left bank... The map shows that much of the land on the left bank belongs to the National Trust but their boundary does not butt up to the river alomng the whole length. There should be plenty of trout about up there and the occasional sea trout too come summer. Note the map and description on the TWP Plym page are more focused on the main seatrout/salmon beat downstream of Shaugh Bridge. The bit you are interested in hardly gets a mention other than the bit I quoted above. Andy

Cheers Andy, i've emailed TWP to see what they say, I would only want a couple of hours fishing once a month or so, hopefully they'll be kind to me I think i'll also email the National Park and see if they can give me any pointers as to the left bank ownership.

You're welcome. Good luck with the NP... If you really want a challenge try asking the Duchy of Cornwall office exactly what the Duchy ticket covers. There is a school of thought that says it covers the upper reaches of ALL Dartmoor rivers on DUCHY land. But nobody has seen this in writing and the Duchy office in Princetown failed to show any interest in answering the question when I approached them. The answer I got was "I dunno". There is another school of thought that says if you want to fish on the high moor (other than the Dart system and bits with club fishings such as the Plym) that you might as well just go and do it. Haha, sounds like the Duchy for quite a few things, to be honest.
I may just take my rod up there and stand on the left bank, if the weather isn't too good you never see anyone anyway.

As an aside isn't it good to see some people talking about the Plym on the board? For seven years every time I looked in all we had was "a bubbleing mess"!

Well, I had a reply from TWP and I can buy a weekly trout ticket for £15 or a season ticket for £60. I have also had another contact given to me by the Duchy of Cornwall's Dartmoor office so i've emailed him about fishing the left bank of the Plym.
Hopefully I can sort something out.

Looks a nice stretch of water from your pictures. You wonder how much water there is up on Dartmoor that never sees an angler? Good luck with your research.

Yeah.... There are some stunning little valleys well away from footpaths/routes where even if you weren't supposed to be fishing no-one would ever know...

A couple more pictures of the Cad or Upper Plym just below Cadover Bridge that I found in the depths of my laptop this afternoon. This water is also on the TWP ticket. Pocket water below Cadover Bridge Cadover Bridge Andy
