Well done pusser, did you catch it on one of your own tyings, and was it nymph or dry? Must get round to joining cffc one day when I have enough time to give it my full attention.

Wasn't one of mine as it needed a tungsten bead (mine are all brass bead ) but one of my dries got a good bashing at, first cast although no fish landed from that

3lb 8oz sea trout yesterday on a size 12 Editor whilst fishing for salmon. Fishing at Umberleigh. River very low at 0.28 on gauge and still carrying a bit of colour from the rain the other day. River bed very dirty and very slippery. Nothing else seen or touched except a few mayflies that the brownies were missing with great skill. Fly would only fish in the necks and tails.

Well done Mark. It's got me twitching and ready to try for one. I've seen a couple of movements that were probably sea trout. A mullet angler had a 9lb sea trout from the Axe last week. Colin.

Nice one Mark. You're right, I was hoping the recent rise might have cleaned things through but it doesn't look like it. I saw a ST move in the tail of 5 O'clock on Sat too.

The rain dance seems to be paying off as the river has needed a really good flush through. We were washed off today but am hoping some salmon may be heading our way before too long.

A few more wash offs this week but hoping that I'll get an hour on two on the river today.

I'm hearing of fish off of the Mole last day or so and had a great email from Devonbabbler y'day regarding sea trout on the upper Taw. Details to follow!

Yes Pete, had a good morning yesterday on the Upper Taw. Caught a few wbt to 12" and then this 19" seatrout. Gave me the fight of my life on my #3 rod with light tippet and it is something I will always remember!!! The river was running high and slightly coloured after all of the rain we have had. There was no sign of rising fish so I fished a New Zealand indicator with a small tungsten nymph about 3' below. I caught the fish in a deep shady pool - probably about 5' deep. After releasing the fish I sat and had a coffee and then went home - It would have been hard to top that experience and so I left the water on a high.

gorgeous fish! I've deliberately targeted sea trout once and always hoped I'll accidentally catch one each time I fish in devon but I'm Still waiting!

Good to see at least one of us knows how to catch fish, brilliant catch Emma, knowing Pete he probably enjoyed it as much or even more than you did!
