Alternative route would be Toronto - milwaukee and drive the 200 miles in. Might avoid the worst of US immigration!

Alternative route would be Toronto - milwaukee and drive the 200 miles in. Might avoid the worst of US immigration! Well you are right Paul in as much as Milwaukee (MKE) is a much smaller airport than Chicago (ORD) where the immigration lines can be very long. However, I think you actually have to clear US customs and immigration in Toronto (YYZ) prior to flying to MKE. I have never routed through Toronto so I don't know how long the wait is in the YYZ immigration lines. I live in York so I prefer to fly from Leeds (LBA) via Amsterdam (AMS) to Minneapolis (MSP). The drive from Minneapolis to Viroqua is about the same as from MKE ie just over 3 hours. Here is another photo to whet your appetite, the West Fork of the Kickapoo River:

Thanks mspaddler!
I have been seriously excited by your posts. After the last trip, I was vowing never to go to the States again. We went to Belize; coming back, we had to go through immigration into the States in Miami, collect our baggage and go through customs. We then had to check in and drop our baggage , through customs again and emigration again- all within 2hrs with the usual little Hitlers at every line (queue). Never again I thought.
But your posts are seductive.............
