I had a good day at Wimbleball on Friday fishing from a boat. On a day when even my boat partner John Dawson, who has been fishing the place since The Dark Ages, caught nothing, I managed 4 rainbows, including one of 3lb 5oz and a brown that I obviously returned (it's the rule now). The fish took a black and green Nomad on a good old fashioned Wetcell II.
I packed it in at lunchtime as it was a freezing cold NE wind.
POST SCRIPT:
SHOULD ANYONE BY CHANCE HAVE FISHED THERE YESTERDAY, AND YOU FOUND A GREY SLING PACK CONTAINING AT LEAST 5 SPOOLS AND LINES, TWO PIPES, MY SCARF, A BRAND NEW DROGUE AND A FLY BOX, IN THE TOP CAR PARK......................
................ IT IS MINE!
I called the Rangers when I realised my error but it had gone and hasn't been handed in. So that rather nullified the self satisfied glow!

Fished Wimbleball yesterday and have a lovely day. Unfortunately there was a rowing regatta on for much of the day so we couldn't use the area around Ruggs and Bessoms after 11 am, although it was productive up until then.
The day started a bit breezy but that dropped off by about lunchtime, saw plenty of insect life including a few Mays laying eggs.
I caught 3, but put 1 back as it was very small, and missed another 3, a good days sport.
This is the second time I have fished here and have to say it is a nice water and obviously well run, with the onus that I have to drive up the Exe valley to get there, I will be back.
