[/URLLast week I finally took my daughter fishing for the first time. We headed for some kids trout lakes and she managed to catch 11 fish and loved every minute.Just look at the excitement on her face with her first fish on. Hopefully I've passed the spark on to her now and every day since she has asked to go again. Casting lessons next. ?

Nice, special days. I remember my uncle taking me for the first time aged about 5... I then took his sons for their first time some years later when I was about 18... And suddenly realised you're not there to fish as an adult... One 9 and one 6 on a small lake/large pond with fixed spool reels.... I set them up cast out on to pre-laid bait from the day before, just about got to my rod when the first had already reeled in for no apparent reason and got a big birds nest... Basically repeat for the next 2 hrs? They did catch a few nice crucian carp in between the birds nests... And loved it....

Excellent. Where were you fishing? That is exactly what I need to get my lad hooked! Our local kids pool is useless.

We went to Tavistock in the end and had a drive across the moors. We had to stop off a few times as she loves finding little beach areas by the river and making sand sculptures.
We even had a ride back to our car in a tractor which she loved.I have to say we were well looked after.
£15 quid for a catch and release ticket.
Blakewell lakes also has a great kids pool and want to take her over there and have a fish too.

cool I may try that Jezney... I'm godfather to one my best mans sons so always take him for a day out close to his birthday but I'm running out of new things to take him to; I bought him a whip rod 2yrs ago and have taken him on a pond in the Blackdowns but never a stocked fishery... I think that would suit him better as his attention span on the small lake is slightly shorted than a knats
