As i've said in other posts, I live very near the dart in totnes but I'm confused what can be fished on a visitor ticket and how it fishes for brown trout.
can anyone simplify where the day ticket covers and the type of fishing available on the Dart. Apparently my late grandfather had full access to the whole river but i've no idea how! He was one of those old, know-the-right-chaps kind of people and an active sportsman in The Field meaning.

I have fished the church commissioners water for trout all up through Dartington and up to caddaford weir. Crystal clear water and not a fish seen.
I have been out chasing salmon a few times and seen plenty of trout rising in the bigger pools later in the day.
With the upper reaches of the dart so close and with a healthy fish population,I tend to stick up there now for trout.
I have never fished any lower than around Staverton railway station area.

I was out guiding today for a visitor, we had two small trout, one on a pt nymph and the other on a hares ear. No fish rising or seen anywhere. Two nice seat rout under the bridge at Staverton one diseased fish at caddaford. Spoke to the owner of the fishing above Staverton he says there was a run of fish last week and dart bridge pool had about 30 fish in it. Seems like the disease may be returning. Only one fish reported caught on the lower river, the fish pass seems to be doing its job at totnes weir as the fish are not stopping in the pool, may be helped by the large number of seals seen in the upper tidal stretches.
