Taking my wife to Kennick on Monday, I was wondering how it was fishing and if anyone has had any recent success? Would like to impress my wife if possible, she's a little competitive when it comes to fishing ;-)

Sorry I can't give you any recent info( I'm sure someone on here will) but in terms of tips ; Anything small and black like diawl bachs , buzzers, mini Montana on floating line with longish leader. Intermediate with gold head damsel. If no action on top then I've often found the trout in kennick to be hard on the bottom( infact when you spooned / gutted them they would have blades of grass in them ) picking up snails, caddis larvae etc...I have had good success with a fast sink line and really short leader ( think booby style ) with suspender buzzers( sometimes catching when others didn't). One other thing, I'm not sure if the stock fish still come from the same supplier but the action would always pick up around the 3 to 4 O'Clock mark ( I assumed this coincided with their stock pond feeding time) so don't give in if nothing much happens in the morning!!

Went for a walk up at Kennick yesterday and despite lovely conditions nothing much was happening. Talking to several anglers it was obvious very few fish had been seen let alone caught. Having said that tomorrow is another day and it was certainly beautiful up there. Just glad I didn't take my rods. Colin.

Green Montana damsels and buzzers usually work well, if you have leech pattern black with a marabou tail that can work as well

Hi, I was at Kennick yesterday and fish were being caught on the corner of clampits in front of the bench, also inClampitts itself. Best method floating line, black and green doing well, and green damsels with a fritz body, fish a slow figure of eight. Last weekend fish were off the wall and in forest bay, wind is still in the same direction so expect they are still there too. have a good day.

Thanks for the advice all, went yesterday and caught a brace in clampitts and lost 2. Lively fighting fish. All hooked on a Black Diawl Bach with holographic tinsel rib using a very slow retrieve. Overall was a slow day, my wife only had one take, which as you could imagine led to rather large amounts of frustration!
