They are about but not in huge numbers right now. We've been catching fish on the mega may and am hoping the hatch grows in intensity over the next week or two.

Still just really a trickle of a hatch where I am. We did rise some fish to the Mega yesterday but midges were a better bet. Did do some left field day time sea trout fishing first thing with my guest and he just missed a nice one of 5/6lb. Would have been a perfect start to the day!

It would have been but he is pretty chilled. It nice to be able to show people that stepping outside of percieved traditions can be productive.

They were biting hard on mays today, great fun. Mega may did the business!

I'm still amazed how many mayfly are coming off the river right now. It isn't unusual to see a few coming off at this time of year but the fish have usually switched off of them and on to caddis. We were catching fish on Mays yesterday.

I spotted a couple of Mays on the tone but they wern't really interested in them.. I had couple of hours on the Tone today.... Plenty of fish lying about not really nymphing and refusing to come up to drys..... Rung the changes to no avail and tried a MegaMay but still no joy..... Did pick up a few to various offerings but mostly they stubbornly refused to move.... 4 grayling, 3 trout.... Largest a fat little fella of 12"... Had to head home to get a couple more hours work done, but felt as though I could be leaving just as they switched on.... May be next time

That is what usually happens on the Taw. Fish just switch right off them despite the hatch continuing for a bit. There has still been a steady trickle of them and I had someone rise a nice sea trout to one on Tues.
