I fished the upper section for an hour this week and managed a 9” trout from one pool. I had to cast tight between two tree branches to get it and it scoffed my fly. Walked around half way up the beat but only saw the odd fish rising. I’ve found with the low levels at the moment the fish are sticking to the deeper well covered areas of the river.

Hello all I wonder if anyone has been out on the Culm recently? It appears that the level is about average ( unlike the rivers around Crediton) any advice for late season fishing on this mercurial river?

Not yet Pusser unfortunately, "the best laid plans of mice" ( the answer is........42!!) I have some time off booked before the end of the season and will definitely try one more session on the Culm before close of play, I just wish we could have some rain to freshen up the rivers but I fear it will arrive too late for the wbt season.

Only once so far, about 4 weeks ago, upstream of Skinners. Changed a bit over the winter, as usual, and some nice water. Plenty of fish, but nothing of much size.

Thanks Ben I promised myself I would fish the Culm more this season, so far no visits! Might have to brave the traffic and dash up the M5 after work and try an evening session, just not enough time for full days unfortunately " cest la vie".
