Just beat the weather on the Test yesterday. Very cold start to the fishing after a cracking breakfast at the White Lion. My friends fished the lake while I fished the river. Klink and dink worked well all day although I tend to use cdc flies instead of the klink with very small, 18's beadheads. Really good rise to olives in the middle of the day which resulted in some good size fish. A few really big out of season browns about which were a real handful. I would recommend a day up there. The fishing was as good as I have known it. £42 a day isn't cheap but the quality of the fishing was worth it. Cheers, Colin

Colin sounds great. As an ex serviceman I've just been accepted for membership of the SDFFA who have 6 miles of prime beats on the Avon so I'm hoping to fit a few good trips in before the end of the Grayling season. I set myself two targets this year, one was to catch a 3 lb WBT from the Usk, (done), and the other was to catch a 2lb grayling on the fly so fingers crossed.

Hi Colin,
Fished Wherwell in January this year; first cast caught an out of season brown of around 4 pounds.
As you know, you dont get exclusive access (and it can get quite busy at times) but there is plenty of water to go at.
