Had my first trip this season up onto the moor but the Okement was in one of her moods and rising trout were in short supply. The crystal clear water meant even approaching the pools without spooking the fish was difficult and I ended up fishing duo which made the casting a bit tricky. I walked right up onto the moors to get some pictures and caught some trout along the way, a beautiful place to while away a few hours. The first pool under the road bridge can be a bit noisy but It did produce a fish A nice couple of pools below the waterfall Produced about four fish and two lost Higher up you come to a foot bridge this is a bit of a trek but worth it

Thanks Terry, yes the good old Rimfly Mini. Twice I've superseded her with newer models, the first one had a massive handle which the line kept getting caught on and the second trapped the line twice while I was reeling in and nicked the coating. As they say " If it ain't broke".

Took a friend ( complete beginner) out for a few hours this afternoon, we were going to go above Meldon but as it was so hot neither of us fancied the walk. The fishing was tough, not much rising and even the reliable duo only produced the odd fish. Lost one decent fish and caught one of 9" right in the rough water at the head of a pool but mostly small stuff. Water rather low and very little fly life, probably would have been better in the evening.

Fished tonight from 5 till 7 , the fish weren't exactly in a free rising mood but I managed about a dozen feisty little trout with a couple in the 7" to 8" range. Lost what I think was a better fish on its first jump in a spot where I've caught some better fish before, a chap walking past with his dogs was obviously watching at the time and offered his condolences as I reeled in, he couldn't believe that fish like that lived in this little river! I think this is another reason I love fishing, it gives you a glimpse into another world that most people don't even know exists.
