Stumbled across this website yesterday www.littlewarhamfishery.co.ukIts been somewhere I've read about for years on the salmon and sea trout front and never got around to fishing. Then it seemed to fall off the radar, after the previous owner died I believe. Now available again. I would be interested in anyones previous experiences. I may give it a go next season. Rob

I've fished it a couple of times a few years back and really enjoyed it. It sounds like the new owners are really having a good go at it and I hope they make a success of it.
I am hoping to head over next year to write an ESF piece with Wayne Thomas.

Wow! looks like a lovely stretch. Thanks for letting us know about it. I'll try to get up there next season I think.

You definitely need to get the weather windows and water levels right for the Torridge. Through work I’ve spent quite a bit of time immediately upstream at Halsdon Nature Reserve, the Torridge is one of the dirtiest rivers in Devon, carries huge amounts of sediment and stays coloured and high for longer than most Devon Rivers... (possibly all). Be interesting to fish it properly for BT, rather than salmon and sea trout which I think is more popular.

One of the times I fished there was for trout. There had been no rain and the river was just at the right level to throw dries for trout rather than swinging flies for salmon.
I think I have only fished the Torridge 3 or 4 times and try not to do so too often as it has been good to me. I've been lucky enough to catch plenty of trout, a 3lb sea trout and a salmon so don't want to mess with my average too much!

One of my work colleagues grew up, farmed and fished on the Torridge... it definitely has some very decent BT in it, but I think you are right Pete... for Browns it’s a river to fish occasionally and get your timing just right. I was down the mid-afternoon in Mayfly a couple of years ago... they were pouring off, didn’t notice much rising.... but I was busy at work and dint have much time to hang around and watch.
