I fished Newhouse fishery the other day who have a private beat on the avon and the owner said his son had caught a 4ftish salmon that he thought could be the biggest salmon ever caught from the river. In my books that puts it in the 30-40lb bracket! Can't imagine playing such a fish in a river that size. They had two in the day and said it's had a really good run this year. Great to hear! Does anyone know the current record?

A 4ft salmon (120cm) would be approx 44 1/2 lb according to the Sturdy scale. A big fish in anyone's book. The "ish" is key!
