Heading there Easter weekend for s few days. Any cheap (free!) local fishing around there like on Dartmoor? Or cheapnwild streams? Looking for brownies really.

You could try Afon Gynolwyn that runs down the hill behind Abergynolwyn and down into the Dysinni. I was told time again by dog walkers that there was nothing in it... but there was. Or you can get a ticket for trout on the Dysinni from the Railway Inn in Abergynolwyn. From memory it was a fiver. Either way it's beautiful valley.
I'd also recommend a boat (actually, THE boat) on the larger lake at Cregennan. Full of wild brown trout that'll take a black fly. We lost count around 30.
I'd love to be able to recommend one of the finest brown trout fisheries in the UK, TalyLyn. However invasive Canadian pond weed has completely ruined the fishing.
