I spent a couple of hours on the Yeo today below Dunscombe bridge. A lovely piece of water but it was still somewhat coloured and the fish weren't playing ball. Plenty of fly life about including LDO's, Grannom, Hawthorns and even some crane flies but I only saw one rise and that was to my olive Klinkhammer, this was a nice well mended 10 1/2" WBT which obligingly saved my blank. Took a look at the bottom of the Creedy but couldn't see anywhere to get in! The plan was to go back to the car for lunch and then fish above Dunscombe but another member had beaten me to it, he agreed that the visibility was poor and hadn't caught anything at the time. I drove to the top of the Creedy but the water was just as cloudy, thought about going out to the Taw but decided against it. Fantastic to finally fish this river after many years of reading about it on here, I look forward to many more visits.

We must've passed each other,I had a look at pines bridge but road was being resurfaced by the parking by spot so headed to salmonhutch to fish the Yeo about 3 pm Fished either side of Uton bridge but no joy I'm afraid, didn't see anything but a lovely walk in the sun I should've brought the dog

Still too high and coloured to be at it's best, the colour is taking a long time to fine out. Should be ideal in about a week, if we don't get any more rain!

Could easily have gone to the Taw. Yeoman do you really think it will take a week to clear? Does the Creedy or the Lapford Yeo clear quicker? Is this unusual because of the amount of rain we've had this year? While I'm asking how far up the Creedy do you have to walk before you can start fishing? Question time over for the moment.

Just seems to be staying coloured for a long time.usually only takes a few days to clear enough. Taw and Culm clear more quickly after rain. If you want to fish the Creedy, I'd recommmend parking at Creedy bridge and walking downstream as far as you fancy.

Thanks for the info Yeoman, I had a quick look at the top of the Creedy and walked out from the leisure centre, it looks to have more weed ( when you can see it) than the Yeo. About the same size as the Yeo here in Yeoford but lots more yards available, lets hope for some surface activity soon.

Friday on the Culm was clear enough, water pushing a bit. Plenty of fly life. No sign of fish sadly

I think it’s been a pretty slow start across the SW, I’ve been over to Dorset once and about 3 shortish sessions on the Otter and two very quick visits to the Axe... in all about 12 hrs, in which I’ve seen 2 splashy rises from very small fish.... i’ve only encountered two decent hatches of grannom, with some LDO and March browns thrown in... none of which elicited any interest on the surface. I nearly succumbed last week on the Otter to using a nymph (or at least duo) but I really like my first fish to be targeted dry to a rising fish... hopefully soon, otherwise I will be tying on a nymph. In fact hopefully tomorrow....

Still a little coloured up in Yeoford I agree with you Boisker, it feels like we are still waiting for the season to kick in.
