All, I have just had an email from the Secretary of the Services Dry Fly Fishing Association to let members know that they will be opening up a limited number of rods to civilians (5 this year and maybe another 5 next year) at a cost of Ā£1500 for the year. the SDFFA have water on the Avon in the Salisbury Plain area - details here: sdffa.co.uk/So, if any of you fancy some chalk stream fishing on a regular basis then it may be worth a look. The email address for the secretary is: secretary@sdffa.co.uk

Nice, have you fished there Pusser? Always been intrigued by the place especially as it was where Frank Sawyer worked.

Pete,
no, not fished there myself but am considering membership (i'm trying to square it with myself as to how often i'd be able to get there etc etc - might leave it until I retire, at least then i'll be able to go up more often). It does look like cracking water though.

I'm told it is really nice. I have a long standing invitation to fish there that we haven't managed to tie up but hoping to get there at some stage.
It is expensive comparable to what we pay for memberships down here but I think that if you can use it and fish it a lot you can easily justify it by breaking it down into chalk stream day ticket prices and the more you go the cheaper they get. Well, that's what I try and do!

Very pricey, but I guess if you could fish it at least one day a week for the season it would be ok (if you like catching stockies)šš
