If her indooors is restricting boot space when going to Devon on holiday what ideal outfit would you recommend? ie rod length line rating ,etc

Hi Grumpy,
if you are down fishing for trout on the rivers a 7 1/2 to 8 1/2ft rod for a 3 or 4 wt line should be ideal for most of what we have down here.
If you are after peal then a 9 to 10ft 6 or 7 wt should do the job.
You might want to put an 8wt in for bass/pike too....there's just so much fishing, can't you get her to look the other way and throw everything in?!

i agree with the 3/4 weight rods with floating lines for our rivers down here mate, if ging for pike suggest up to a 10wt due to large 10 inch flies being used. O an 8wt for bass pollock and mackerel fishing. There are a great many rivers and shore marks producing at the moment.
