As I wrote earlier my family and I are coming to the UK from Seattle to visit family in Devon in about a week. While there I plan to steal away between family events and do a little fishing on the East and West Darts.
My question is; how good is cellphone coverage in Dartmoor in case I loose track of time (likely) and my family needs to get ahold of me while I'm out there?

Hi, I'm with Vodafone and coverage is patchy at best. In fact I only use my phone to check the time when I'm up there, and I find it liberating being out of contact with civilisation for a day! Hope you enjoy the fishing.

Ok -"patchy coverage" will be my excuse then!

TBH, the coverage in most of Devon is patchy...

Is it any better if you get yourself to the top of a hill?

Turn your phone onto 2G network access, for a little better coverage.
