It has of course been a memorable season for many reasons but do you have a special moment from when you were out on the water?
For me, it was taking a friend to my favourite piece of water. It was mayfly time but the fish weren't biting hard on them. He hooked and landed a beautiful fish. It was a big one and I really wanted him to have a photo as a momento. I asked him to just move his hand so I could see all of the fish but as he did so, the fish slid away. He made no attempt to recapture it and just looked at me and smiled.
I said " Dude, I didn't get a shot, I didn't get a shot" he just replied with " It doesn't matter, you and I saw it"
It was pretty cool.
Apologies if you've heard this as I did mention it in a recent podcast but incase you haven't, I wanted to share it.
Over to you...

For me it was simply arriving at the bottom of the Blackbrook after the Duchy waters finally opened up at the end of May, and relishing the prospect of a full day of summer small-stream fishing. Felt like Tim Robbins at the end of Shawshank Redemption!

I think maybe that sharing posts on this forum ( with me moaning like Victor Meldrew) with Johnie, Chris et al would be up there. Not really the season I hoped for after the dodgy start but as Johnie said can’t think of too many places I’d rather be than Dartmoor fish or no fish. There was one 13” fish I flukily had on a streamer on the west dart in high water which the memory will help me through till next season.

Felt like Tim Robbins at the end of Shawshank Redemption! I know what you mean, when we could fish again I was convinced I'd run to the river, cast like a maniac, lose all my flies and miss all the fish. I surprised even myself that I waited for fish to rise, cast to them, with a bamboo rod as I promised and caught some.

I think for me it was grabbing a couple of hours after work on the Okement when we were first allowed back out. It was just great to be back out casting a dry fly for tiny free rising trout, it really brought home to me just how much I'd missed it. Unfortunately it was followed by a visit to the Taw to find that they'd cut all the trees down, rather took the wind out of my sails for the rest of the season☹☹
Hi treefella did you get my pm??

Although I'd caught trout before lockdown it seemed quite pleasant to in effect start the season with good hatches and rising trout when we were back on the water again. There have been many times early on in March that you sometimes question where the trout might be! Sorry to hear about the trees on the Taw. I know that stretch well, it will always remain special to me.
