As far as I can tell, the River Otter Beavers have genarally been a success ( so far). Only a matter of time before the nip across to the Culm, I reckon, if they're not already there.
Ask a Tay Salmon Fisher about Beavers, however, and you best have a hard hat with you!

Has anyone actually asked the Beavers if they want to come and live in our rivers? Not exactly five star accommodation according to the EA, at least not fit for humans to swim in,would it be OK for a smaller mammal?

A recent report in Trout & Salmon magazine stated that sightings of Beavers were in 17 rivers throughout the south west many of which weren’t part of the original project. It seems that no lessons have been learnt from the introduction of grey squirrels, mink etc. The eradication of coypu which obviously got out of hand cost 2.8 million pounds in 1989. I’m still uncertain of any real advantages of the introduction of Beavers but I’m sure we can’t go back now whatever the outcome.
