Happy to report that I had my annual late season sea trout fix last month on North Uist. A week of gales, rain and low light which made for very hard going, except for one magical afternoon when we had 4 fresh-run fish to the boat in a light ripple, all on traditional flies (Claret Bumble, Blue Zulu and T,B &S). The largest was pushing 3lb and is jumping in the video frame grab attached. The other photos are of the same loch as the light went and the view from the ferry as we were heading back to Skye. We were very lucky to have a smooth crossing on the way out which made for a fabulous sea watch from the observation deck: several porpoises, large numbers of common dolphins in small pods all the way across the Minch, and a single minke whale off Rum. Nearly a full house of raptors spotted for our week in the Isles (white-tailed and golden eagles, merlin carrying prey, hen harrier, kestrel and buzzard), a 200 strong raft of eider ducks just off Luskentyre beach and roaring stags for the sound track!
