Yes, saw that as well in The Guardian online.
Seems that if you want any chance of them coming out to an incident, you need to say there are dead fish all over the place.

I think now I feel more inclined to call the press first then the EA , at least then any incident can't be hushed up

Is it even a surprise? I wonder what Mr Mel Stride would make of this? Is this how they are going to implement the new "improved " environment bill to reduce sewage discharges, by not investigating anything else? Ironic that this came from a leak, I bet the EA wished they'd fixed this particular broken pipe?
