Myself I am hoping to get back on the Duchy waters somewhere next week to get one last trip in before the season ends. Preferably will be on my favourite little stretch of the Cherrybrook and if I can sneak in a few casts on the West Dart as well.
I am guessing that they will have a nice flush of fresh water running through them as well after all this rain .
Good luck and enjoy if you manage to get out !

Yeah, but not sure where, although probably no more Dartmoor sessions until next season. Trout season extends to Oct15th in Dorset, I may get to the Frome before the end of Sept, but off to Toulouse for a few days next week, so could very well be early Oct as the river will more than likely be unfishable this weekend. Then no doubt a few grayling sessions up to Xmas, Frome and Tone, then a break until the new season.

Hopefully next week as the weather looks a lot better. The gauge at Dunnabridge ( west dart ) yesterday was at 1.8 meters which is well over a meter higher than normal but today, as usual, is dropping back so providing we have no more excessive rain should be fine for next week.

A few more sessions would be nice before the end of the season weather permitting, but if not, it'll be on with the autumn Chubbing and Grayling and maybe a few goes for a local Barbel.

I’ve run out of time for any more Dartmoor adventures this season, but I’m finishing off in style in the Outer Hebrides at the moment. Got off the mark with two sea trout today, and dropped a fresh grilse. It had been hard going until now, and it’s been unusually warm and dry up here this summer, but the wind and rain have finally arrived to freshen things up. Tight lines to all!

On my list of trips to do ,has been for many a year actually! I will have a few trips in Wales exploring a few mountain Lyns that I have yet to cast a line in before they close on Oct 17th.

I'm still hoping to get out next Saturday but looking at the forecast I decided to pop out early this morning just in case the rivers are blown next week. I fished the Yeo from Dunscombe up to Codshead for perhaps 2 hours. Not surprisingly nothing was rising so I fished the nymph. Unfortunately I took my rubber hooks with me as at least half the fish I hooked came adrift. On the plus side one of the ones that stayed on was this fine chap of 13 " My best fish of the season so well worth going, perhaps I should leave the gopro at home more often🤔

You seem to do well with the Go Pro, Chris. Kiss of death as far as I'm concerned!

My last trip on the west dart today. Another season has disappeared. The gauge at Dunnabridge showed 1.2 metres early this morning but was dropping so I thought all was looking good but was surprised to see a quite a flow on arrival. Needless to say not a rise to be seen so for once persevered with a streamer to no avail that is apart from a massive pull that nearly gave me a heart attack. Needless to say he didn’t come again😡 Maybe the odd reservoir trip from now on. Hope everyone has had or is having a good season. Terry

I'm with you in the heart attack club Terry: still trying to recover from being broken by a big salmon three days ago on a sea trout loch.... If I had landed it (a very big if) it would easily have been my largest fish from the Hebrides in all the years I have been going there. As it was, I only got a glimpse as it rolled on the surface, eyed me up, and decided to head for the horizon. Light nylon and the drag setting did the rest. Aaaaarrrghhh!
