Does anyone know if there is/was such a thing within the last 100 years or so that is still relatively easy to get hold of?
Not looking so much as leather bound jobbies but reasonably affordable.
Thanks in advance.

There is a book "Exmoor Streams Notes and Jottings with Practical Hints for the Anglers" by Charles F Wade dated 1903

Thank you flyboxfan.
I believe that that book has been reprinted in some form or another so I'll be making a purchase shortly. The original looks as if it is harder to come across and would definitely be going for a princely sum!
Cheers

There is a book by H C Cutcliffe called "The art of trout fishing on rapid streams" and this focused on N Devon streams. Printed in South Molton in MDCCCLXIII (work that out!). He listed flies by the month. I have a copy and happy to scan pages describing fly dressing should you wish Graham

I didn't know you looked in this way. It is a lovely specialised forum as you know. Your library is even more extensive that I imagined.
I would be delighted to receive some scanned pages on fly dressings presented by Mr Cutcliffe
Thank you
Regards

That is kind. I am due to visit Amwell on Tuesday to look to help out then I am away to Scotland for a while. I guess the next w/e I am back is 25/07 as I have a couple of Midlands visits booked either side of the blue & white flag!
Can we make contact after that in order to meet up to fish?
And I have to come down to Dartmoor after that!
Cheers

Loopy,
I suspect you have seen this but a mid 1800's book "Trout flies of Devon and Cornwall and how to use them" by G.W. SOLTAU was re printed again in paperback last year.
I share your interest in this but Mike Weavers selection always does it for me.

Thank you for pointing out this reprint. I have vaguely heard of Soltau but given this info I will be persuing the recent reprint.
I too am a fan of Mike Weaver and of course his flies.
Thank you again.
