Despite the recent heat and cloudless skies my season has been above average. I am concentrating on shadow covered part of the river working these parts with stealth. The other adjustment I have made is to fine down as much as possible with my tippets now nevr more than 2lb b.s. Fly life has been encouraging with hatches most days although the average size is now so small I can hardly see them!

I have had a fairly good season on the River Exe. Thanks
I have made a few silly mistakes like dropping fish, but by the time I have had them in my hand I guess that they can be considered as caught. Had a day when I struggled to hook up with anything but all in all I have had a really good season. Noted that rainbows have made up over half the catch and been the larger fish.
Tried a few new things that have gone into my arsenel, now experimenting with small tube flies for trout. Hopefully it will continue in the same manner

Flybox surely you are not getting Rainbows in the Exe?
I have been doing well up on the Moors - in fact best Season for many years. I managed to break the 2lb barrier with a Brownie about 6 weeks ago on an orange snatcher. Only fish on a hard day with bright sunshine and roasting hot.
Will be of to try for some Seatrout this week with the cooler evenings and some water around.
Sandy.

Sandy
Congratulations on a 2lb er. When you say the Moors are you talking rivers here or the reservoirs?

Hi Terry, It was on one of the wild Reservoirs(not stocked) on Dartmoor fish was at least 2LB but certainly between that and 3LB. I would post a Pic but I can't seem to get the attach image facility to work. I pick up fish +1LB regular but this was my best for sometime. He's back swimming around for someone else to catch now! Hope to go down to the Estuary tonight for some fun with the Bass on the Fly. Saw quite a few waiting my atentions last week. There seems to be more Seatrout around this year in the saltw*ter should be good for the runs from now forward. Sandy.
