On July 5th I posted on the Dart forum concerning the lack of rain.
Whoever it was that answered could I please retract the request as I feel we have now had enough.
Thanks,
Terry

Wanted to fish the Exe this week, is running the colour of coffee. Never had much success fishing in coffee coloured water as I guess that the fish can't see the fly more than a couple of inches away from the end of their noses. So I will join the petition for the rain to stop for a while

Tried again this week, the river is running faster than last, the water is even more turbid and to top of the week I slipped and fell in.
Please can the rain stop for more than a day now

I pass the Exe every day and look at with trout eyes so my rods have remained in the boot.
However, I hear a 10 year old girl caught her first almon- 6lb- last Sunday just below Dulverton!

well done to her, especially with the conditions in the river at the moment. Gave up thinking about trout fishing weeks ago.

It is getting a bit frustrating now. I managed to work yesterday and laughed as Devon Fly Fisher had passed and left a note on my truck saying "you aren't fishing in this chocolate are you?" !! We managed a few as the river was attempting to clear and we'd fished higher up the Taw in the morning which had been a lot better but I am stuck in today. I wanted SOME rain but not this much!

Word is there is some settled warm stuff on the way, and here is lucky old me with 2 weeks leave coming up starting Sat Aug 15th. My mum always said I was born under a lucky star.
Chin up lads take every chance you can coz it will be a long winter. If the rivers are shot try the still waters even if you have not tried before, or give Pete a ring and get that casting sorted !!!

The Thorveton gauge has fallen below 6 for the first time in about two months, so, as I haven't got the access to grayling waters that my much esteemed maestro and guru can command, I ought to get my waders on and go fishing on the Yeo or Creedy.
Sadly they are now out of season as they do not have the grayling excuse available elsewhere.
Furthermore, having fallen off a stile at the bottom of the CFFC waters on the Taw on the 5th of September, I am non compos mentis or non persona grata or anyway unable to fish - even left handed! I have sorted the casting- better than I can right- handed- but retrieving wit h the right handis still****************!
I was finally diagnosed on 11th December as having hurt my shoulder.
Surgery is necessary to glue back various ligaments to the bone to repair the damage. NHS forecasts say that this may take place in March- si j'ai en de la chance- Inshallah!
I can't even tie a fly, so mega frustration has set in.
If I walk along the bonny banks of the Exe or Yeo, within 5 minutes my shoulder screams with the vibrations/ jolting.
I have put on more than a stone (14lb avoirdupois, not a rock). Were I thinking of competing with our Taunton friend, this is a valuable addition. If not it is a little too much!
An indeterminate period of convalescence will likely overrun the start of the season. My right bicep currently resembles an anorexic peanut through natural wastage. I would love to get it back to the wrinkled walnut size I am accustomed to looking down on.
I will turn up for CFFC bank clearing sessions (for the unbeatable company) but will have to refuse the subscription discount for being there.
I am considering the vast expense of getting someone to superglue the offending parts privately (not privates!) to advance my return date.
With my very best wishes to all forum members for Christmas and New Year- and sorry for the self-centred rant,
Paul

So reading your comment I presume you are somewhat pi**ed off at the moment then Paul? Just dream of balmy days with fish sipping flies off the surface and before you know it post surgery you will be in amongst this next season

Impeccable logic Graham, bored as well!
On odd fine days I've been out in field next door, arm in sling, practising the left handed bit.
Thinking my way round the various rivers down here, I'm only just realising what a colossal advantage you have been enjoying over us mere right handed mortals without letting on the souyrce of your success!
