I hardly ever fish the Axe/Yarty these days but I have friends who do and they are all reporting good things. The trout fishing is much improved this year and the weed is back, it hasn't really been there since the huge spates in the winter of 2000/2001. Some excellent sea trout are coming out too. A friend was trout fishing on the upper end of the Axe last Thursday night and got a 5lb sea trout on a size 16 dry fly!
Yesterday the whole system was washed out but sea trout were seen running at the bottom of the Yarty.

I was going to be fishing it next Monday but i don't think it will have dropped or cleared enough if this weather stays as it does.

Well i fished last night with a friend just outside Axminster for the seatrout but was anable to hook one. A couple of fish crashed so there were some in there and the water looked perfect with a good flow and a nice colour. It even stayed warm and cloudy. We did catch 10 Brownies 9 to dry flies before we fished for the seatrout and one that took my tube fly. I had two brownies that were 12" and 13" which put up a great fight on my Scott G2 2# Out after Pike on Chew tomorrow. T
