All my best intentions have come to nothing and I have not managed to wet a line yet this season. In fact my tackle is still packed away from my recent move. I managed to walk down my favourite stretch last week and apart from a couple of branches that have fallen in it looked really good. Has anyone been, or heard of anything being caught on the Exe this year?

I went pike fishing on the exe at Cowley bridge, Feb 12th. Had no pike but did catch one Salmon on a 6 inch plug! Hooked fair and square in the scissors! He was 7lb but very long and thin. Should have gone to double figures at least if fresh. I assume this is an overwintered fish as it was not fresh. Recovered OK and swam off strongly, & looked like a survivor.

I have no intention of wetting a line until April. I've tried earlier in the past but never had a sniff, tis cold up on the Barle you know! There's not even any kelts up there to make it interesting Andy

Well I managed an hour or so on Monday - no signs of a fish but the snowdrops were magic. Managed to identify the trees and branches to be dragged out and the felt sole of my wading boot fell off.
Managed to pull out the branches and trees with the aid of a tractor on friday so will be sawing up an supply of logs this year and can start fishing again next week (hopefully) ;D ;D ;D
