I am being inducted into the arcane rituals of spey casting.
Sadly I cannot practice this dark art on the field between my house and the graveyard- water is required.
After lesson 1, boy do I need to practice, probably in one hour stints.
I live in Silverton.
Does anyone know of a bit of water nearby, still or flowing, where I might gain permission to cast without disturbing others and if so who owns it!
Thoughts so far are Exeter Canal- but its a long way- or one of the lake fisheries north or west of Tiverton- again away and the freezers pretty full!
Help much appreciated, Paul

Treefella,
Thanks for the very bright idea. I scurried up there today; the bit by the main basin near Tiverton itself is a bit public; not that IO haven't got a thick skin, but I'd probably be a danger in the early stages of practice!
But I did find another spot halfway to Halberton and another near Halberton itself which would work well if there weren't any roach fanciers plying their trade.
Thats a good start if I'm heading north for the day. Any other ideas warmly welcomed.
Paul
