Dear Flyboxfan,
Not sure, but there was a gigantic cock-up by the EA when changing some legislation which means, inter alia, that poachers cannot be prosecuted for fishiing out of season and which, I think, prevented any season extensions to be granted,
Would welcome an experts view on this.

I'm no expert but I heard (via the fishtheexe newsletter) it was a clause in the Marine Bill which prcluded the EA from granting any extensions. The last I heard was that all the extensions already granted for this year would have to be recinded BUT a fiddle might be worked so they could go ahead. Apparently the Teign extension was granted, anyone know about it? Also the some north Wales rivers have an extension and looking on other fora nobody has mentioned a problem there??? The following link is the one for those wanting to register for the extension on the north Wales rivers. Not much use to us down here but I thought it was interesting how much more organised it is than ours. www.cpwf.co.uk/campaign/season-extension-trialsAndy

;D ;D ;D ;D I got it wrong ..... there appears to be the usual extension on the Exe this year. Apply as before. Yippeee I may get to fly fish for salmon this year as I am having steriod injections into the shoulder next week but if they work I could go fishing again ;D ;D ;D

Top end of the river appears to be holding reasonable numbers of grilse (but hardly any salmon) but they are all getting pretty dark now.
