To Brecon, ostensibly for a practice walk over the Beacons in preparation for walking the West Highland Way later this month.
I found a lovely little campsite 10 minutes' walk from Brecon itself, in a secluded valley next to the River Honddu. As it happened, the owners charged £3 per day to fish.
I got in downstream and started working my way up. Like the Teifi, you have to be careful as the river seemed to run through a rock cleft so the bed fell away steeply in places. There were only a few promising stretches and I ended up spending most time fishing a pool below a small waterfall.
After getting no interest with the Klinkhamer, I tied on a small goldhead PTN Kiwi-style and soon started getting takes. I brought 3 fish to hand, all 4-5" long and missed at least as many, including what felt like a good fish.
All in all, a fun afternoon for the princely sum of £3.

Hi Jon,
Makes the Duchy water look expensive!
Is the Lyn still £4?
