Seasons greetings everyone, thought I would post up Returns for 2010 just to whet everyone's appetite.
The first half of the season was characterised by very low water conditions. That and the pollution incident would appear to be responsible for the drop in numbers of fish caught. That said, returns showed clearly that more members caught fish than in previous seasons, meaning that new members in particular had done well. Members, it seemed, had fished both the rivers Taw and Culm more, for obvious reasons, and both rivers had fished well. The total of 764 fish caught was based on 45 catch returns, of which 11 were nil returns.
Notable catches: On the river Yeo, 3 x 13” Ben Dymoke-Marr; 1 x13” Graham Nicol. On the Lower Creedy, 1 x 14” Roy Thompson. On the river Taw, 1 x13” Ben Dymoke-Marr; 1 x 13” Mike Willis; 1 x 14” Chris Hurford. On the river Culm, 1 x 15” Ben Dymoke-Marr; 1 x 15” Nigel esbitt; 1 x 16” Jo Anderson; 1 x 16.5” Toby Dean; 1 x 17” Ben Dymoke-Marr. Congratulations to all concerned.
The Chairman’s cup The top card was – Ben Dymoke- Marr with 139 fish. The Chairman’s cup, for the most fish in a season, was therefore presented to Ben. The “Greg Mason” cupThe Greg Mason trophy, for the largest fish of the season, was also awarded to Ben Dymoke-Marr for his catch of a 17” trout on the river Culm. Again, congratulations to Ben.
Only 78 days to go, so get the vices going.
All the best David

Those are some good fish, a 17incher is a belter! It's good to see a club measuring fish in inches and not lb & oz or even, heaven forbid, centimetres!
How is the river recovering after the pollution? Are you doing any fly sampling on the club rivers?

Hi Andy, yes we are going to have a full fly-life survey also a survey of fish numbers and recruitment in the Creedy/Yeo system. We will also be investigating the number of white Crayfish.
The pollution affected the last 1,000yds of our fishing, we do have other waters to fish. The river will recover, it is such a shame it happened and to a beautiful stretch of water which only a few weeks earlier was producing fish up to 14".
