;D ;D ;D Fishing today and managed to catch more salmon parr than brown trout. Is this the result of the work done by the River Exe and Tributaries Association or just luck?

I'm sure it was skill!
At least you can go back to yourland environment and say, legitimately, that you caught XYZ salmon during your outing today!

Funny you should mention this. I was out on the DAA Hollam beat yesterday and found much the same. Despite a very warm day with good fly hatches very few trout were to be seen. I hook only four and they all fell off (I don't mind C&R but I do like to bring them to hand first!) but I was rising parr and smolts everywhere on the shallower top half of the beat. This is the first time I've seen salmon smolts in numbers on the upper end of the Exe system (not that I fish up there a lot in April). There is clearly going to be a huge run of grilse on the Exe next year Andy

Didn't continue. On Monday I got the chance to fish again and managed only two parr with the rest being brownies but I was fishing where the water was a little shallower and running a bit slower.
