Does the Duchy ticket cover the upper reaches of Dartmoor streams other than the Dart? I'm sure I read an article by Mike Weaver (Walking up the Walkham?) in which he said the Walkham above Walkhampton parish boundary was covered by the Duchy ticket. I also remember reading an article years ago in T&S by someone who had fished the upper reaches of most Dartmoor streams but there was no mention, that I recall, of separate tickets. I did once try ringing the DoC office in Princetown to find out but the reply I got was "err... dunno..." and there seemed little interest in finding out I have this (daft) plan to walk up to Cranmere Pool and fish the East Dart, Taw, West Okement, Tavy (Black Ridge Brook) and Teign all in a day Andy

I've always wanted to fish the upper most parts of the Taw and would love to know how and if it is possible to get on there.
I'll pass this thread to Mike and see what he can do to help.

Cheers Pete. I have considered the "just go and fish anyway" approach :oas it is all so remote but I would like to do it proper Andy

Hi Andy,
I got this back from Mike, hope it helps...
Hello Pete Much of the upper part of the Walkham above Merrivale is owned by the Duchy of Cornwall but, unless things have changed, not actually on the Duchy permit. I did write about the Walkham in an article in T&S many years ago and, although much of the water fished was Tavy, Walkham and Plym FC water (for which I assume permits are still available), I also referred to the part owned by the Duchy. Even if the Duchy permit does not cover the Walkham, they may well give permission to fish (a pity the person at the Duchy could not give information). I hope this is helpful. Mike -----
