Got on the river today for the 1st time this year. Fished the over-grown section of the Creedy opposite Dunscombe. Managed to get through with the river being so low. No fish moving despite a good hatch of Grannom. Picked up 3 fish on my Yeo Bug nymph, 2 8" and one 10".
Long walk back across the corn field, decided to sit and watch the river by Dunscombe Bridge, nothing moving but saw Kingfisher and Dipper. It wasn't my intention to fish the Yeo, after 10mins I decided it was time to go home when fish started moving all over the pool below the bridge. A hatch of LDOs. Quick change of fly, cast, fish on, 8" Yeo Brownie quickly returned, re-cast further up the pool. This time hooked a bigger fish fought all around the pool, a lovely 11" Trout quickly unhooked and released. Turned round to re-cast, hatch had stopped, no more fish moving. The whole hatch only lasted 5mins, just happened to be in the right place at the right time!
It was good to see fish of that size back on the stretch of the Yeo after the pollution 2 years ago.

Nice one,Dave. I fished that way on Friday and also found a few fish on dry, good hatch of midges. They all seemed to be in really good nick as well. Maybe the mild winter has suited them. Delighted to see fish and fly life back in that stretch.
