Well managed to get out on a lower beat on Sun and Monday. River was still too high at 2ft and 1ft 11in on the gauge with a strong flow. Stuck on a 5ft sinking tip and a #10 park shrimp. Lots of mending on the line required to slow down swing but nevertheless net result was zero. I did manage a small peal on a silver stoat and suspect that if river fell 6in or so there will be a few fish around to be taken. Just needs to stop raining!

Fished 2 lower beats yesterday. Rained heavily and side stream coloured up but river was only affected in margins. Lost a good sea trout after being on for quite some time and landed a peal about 1lb. Lots of mayfly about and fish were locking on to them.
